Item Description
The collection of charts of the American coast known as "The Atlantic Neptune" was first published in London in the 1770s by Joseph DesBarres. It was a landmark in map making, containing charts that were sufficiently detailed and accurate to be used by the Royal Navy during the Revolutionary War. The charts were copper engraved and hand colored. This is a copy of an original chart from that series showing Cape Ann and surrounding coastal towns. It is an archival, full size, full color gicle print on acid free German etching paper, made from a high resolution digital capture (6000 lines per inch) from the original chart. Image size is 32 x 44 inches. Shrinkwrapped on foam core.
